The chandelier measures 3 meters in diameter, with a 2 meter drop. It is made of 150 hand blown clear glass spheres measuring 20cm in diameter each, hanging in canopy formation. Munro’s chandelier is lit with fibre optics powered by a DMX projector. The colour-changing light is projected down the optical fibres (each 1.5mm thick), and each fibre ends curled into a glass sphere. The chandelier has magnificent influence over the rest of the interior by completely changing the overall colour, hence it becomes not only the focal point but also main conception of a design. Therefore when planning to use a light fitting of such kind (consider size and colour change) silent and slightly illuminated background should be provided in order to reveal its brilliance to the fullest.
A circular stainless steel plate has been secured to the ceiling for added strength.
