Flexible panel light

Light panel

We are at a dawn of new light sources competing with each other. Since the new standards were put into effect many manufacturers turned their heads in search of new light sources mostly focusing on LED and all their potential uses. But we are also witnessing creative ideas emerging with the use of previously established technologies and giving them a boost.
A new kind of light source uses LEC technology to create a paper-thin lighting device that is flexible and extremely light weight.  This flat panel light promises 75 percent more efficiency over incandescent bulbs. Potential ideas range from night light panels to lit glass counter tops.
The technology is based on External Electrode Fluorescent Lamp technology, promising directed light and five times the durability of compact fluorescent light bulbs. Originally used for backlights in liquid crystal displays, the unique form factor could be used for a variety of residential, commercial and industrial needs, inside and outside. The LEED approved lighting will also be dimmable, allowing for further efficiency.

Solar Powered Street Lights

Solar Powered Street Lights

The lights, provided by SolarOne® and Hadco, are powered by photovoltaic (PV) panels.  With their own solar power source, the light posts can easily be installed wherever light is needed, without expensive investments in trenching, cabling and repaving.
The fixtures employ round strings of small LEDs, providing an attractive, uniform light.  The LEDs themselves are housed inside a Hadco® Lighting fixture that recalls the classic beauty of street lighting from the early 20th century while delivering extreme weather ability. Hadco is the lighting industry leader that combines custom designed lighting with superior engineering.
The long-lasting LED lights significantly reduce maintenance, and perform well in cold temperatures. The light’s solar panels are positioned to shed snow, and SolarOne’s proprietary SO-Bright™ Technology, which manages brightness and adapts to low power conditions, ensures that facilities are never left in the dark, even in the darkest days of winter and during extended cloudy periods.
Ideal for pathways, sidewalks, parking lots, and bus shelters, SolarOne® overhead lights are currently in use or being installed in locations as diverse as college campuses, corporate centres and city streets.

Naoooooooo by Naolab

Naoooooooo by Naolab

www.naolab.com

Naolab designed a multipurpose fitting that can be powered via an USB port and whose light dynamically changes through time. It can be mounted on the wall or function as a table lamp. naoooooooooo’s LEDs create a handsome, breathing light pattern for divers spaces. The subtle ambient lights randomly change to a natural, calming rhythm – adding life to an otherwise still environment which could be great source for safety lighting. This high energy-saving light hangs portrait, landscape and in corners. It also lays or stands on any surface – coffee table, desktop, bookshelf or mantel. Therefore it can be used as task lighting. The luminaire should be used with a USB power supply adapter. Alternatively it can be connected with a computer’s USB port. Many households already use USB adapters to charge their mobile phones or music players.

Snog by Cinimod Studio

Snog by Cinimod Studio

The installation features suspended glass globes with integrated RGB LEDs in each of them.
Cinimod’s design builds upon the brand identity created by ico Design and evolves the strong architectural vision created in the first store SNOG South Kensington, while introducing a different ‘quirk’ in the design: the bubbling ceiling. This lighting feature is comprised of 700 glass globes containing LED lights and presents a new level of visual excitement and public engagement. The effervescent ceiling is remarkable presentation of how powerful looking are many lights put together. This kind of setting would be appropriate not only for retail interiors but also in homes and almost any place. The reason is hidden behind the functionality and the diversity that can be achieved by assembling basic light globes. If a similar setting was made in a private dwelling it would not be necessary to cover the whole ceiling but to introduce small groups which can function as ambient lighting and have similar impact. Moreover the popularity of LED lights is buoyed by energy consumption that is a fraction of standard lights.

With its graceful curves and ultra-slim housing, pendant luminaire DayWave has an innovative design language all of its own. It is the world’s first LED-enabled luminaire for general office lighting, meeting the requirements for visual comfort. DayWave luminaires can be suspended alongside each other to create beautiful, gently undulating waveforms. It is ideal for offices and spaces such as reception areas and for indoor places where working people do not have access to natural light. DayWave creates an inspiring natural ambience that enhances office workers’ sense of well-being. It brings the dynamic rhythm of daylight into the office, subtly shifting between cool and warm light over the course of the day. Lighting that follows the natural cycle of the daylight and human body’s perception of it is undoubtedly revolutionary invention in a way that light controls it self in everyday light setting.
